もともと法哲学の矢崎光圀ゼミで 読んだH.L.A.Hartの
The Concept of Law (1961)(Third ed., 2012, at p.14) に引用されていた言葉だった。その後色々な論文や書籍に引用されているが、書籍を買って調べたつもりが見つからなくなってしまった。
今では、元の講義録（下記）も論文集Philosophical Papers (1961,
edited by J. O. Urmson and G. J. Warnock[1])も、デジタルで閲覧できるようになったので、簡単に出典を確認できる。
