教え込む場ではなく学びの支援と学位認定の場に


「教育と米国の未来についての全米委員会」のトム・キャロル会長は「実際の学校は一方的に教え込む場ではなく、学びを支援するとともに習熟度を測り、学位や資格を認定する場になる」(日経0121)と予言する。今やっているグローバールリーダシッププログラムは先駆けか。保守派の抵抗はつよい。

「教育と米国の未来についての全米委員会」などというからあやしいと思ったら、NCTAFは権威のある団体のようだ。

学校を教え込む場ではなく学びの場にという趣旨のこの記事の出典はわからない。もしかしたら感心にトム・キャロル氏に取材したかもしれない。しかし、これはトム・キャロル氏のキャッチフレーズであるようだ。その通りだと思う。

“The future of education is about less teaching and more learning. I am committed to transforming schools from teaching organizations into learning organizations.”

トム・キャロル氏人類学者だったらしいが、今では教育革新の論客として引っ張りだこのようだ。
